Reading the evening light
Look for the edges of a shadow
Before taking a photograph, look at where light stops. A wall in shade can bring out the colour of a sunlit leaf, while a bright sky can turn a branch into a simple silhouette.
Return to the same place at different hours. Write down the direction of the light and compare your notes. Familiar places change when the sun moves.
